Moving on, did you know that your occupation can impact your chances of getting a green card?

The US government's immigration policies prioritize individuals who can make valuable contributions to the US economy through their work. As a result, certain occupations may be more likely to receive approval for green cards than others. For example, highly skilled and specialized professionals in fields such as science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) are often in demand and can greatly enhance the US economy. As a result, individuals working in these fields may have a higher chance of getting their green card approved. Similarly, individuals working in managerial or executive positions may be viewed as valuable assets due to their leadership and business skills. On the other hand, occupations that are perceived as low-skilled or that have a surplus of workers in the US job market may face more difficulty in obtaining green card approval. Does Economic Sector and Employer Location Impact Green Card Approval? Exploring the Connection Between Job Market and Immigration Policy

When it comes to obtaining a green card, an applicant's employer location and the economic sector they work in can play a crucial role in determining their chances of approval. For example, the demand for skilled workers in certain sectors such as healthcare, technology, and engineering is high, which makes it easier for applicants working in these industries to secure a green card. Similarly, an applicant working for an employer located in an economically prosperous region has better prospects of approval than someone working in a region with a struggling economy. Moreover, applicants working for companies that have a history of sponsoring green cards for their employees also have an advantage. In contrast, smaller companies with limited resources may not have the same level of success in obtaining green cards for their employees. It is important to note that the job market is constantly evolving, and the demand for skilled workers can vary across different sectors and regions. Therefore, it is essential for applicants to be aware of the current trends in the job market and choose their employer and industry wisely to increase their chances of green card approval.

In general, the Midwest region has higher approval rates than both coasts.

Three outliers are Hawaii, New Mexico, and South Carolina, whose overall approval rates were impaired by those of Foreign Workers with Specialized Skills. These individuals have a higher than 80% chance of obtaining a Green Card in most other states, but their chances are considerably reduced in these three states.

Let’s take Hawaii as an example to uncover the underlying reasons for disparity. Previous charts show that the Education industry has one of the highest approval rates of 84%. However, it is significantly lowered to 50% in Hawaii. It can be inferred that for some professions, location could be a determining factor in the approval of Green Cards.

By examining the trends in green card applications and approval rates, we can gain valuable insights into the immigration system and work towards creating a more equitable and fair process for all. It is important to continue to have open and honest conversations about the challenges faced by foreign workers seeking residency in the US and to work towards creating a more inclusive and welcoming environment for everyone.
